ATLANTA – September 13, 2018 – Select Fulton’s Fulton WorkSource division and UPS teamed up with WorkSource boards from across the Metro Atlanta area for a community recruitment event earlier this week. Rosel Fann Community Center hosted the all-day event geared towards placing Fulton County residents in full-time roles as UPS package handlers at the new SMART Hub facility.

“WorkSource Fulton is pleased to be able to partner with UPS on another recruiting fair,” said Brett Lacy, Workforce Division Manager at Select Fulton. “Not only are we screening qualified candidates that have the necessary skills for jobs today, but also identifying future candidates and placing them in training programs so that UPS will continue to have a steady flow of capable applicants.”

The recruitment event coincided with UPS’ continued development efforts in Fulton County, specifically for the new 1.2 million square foot SMART Hub sorting facility along Fulton Industrial Boulevard. In all, UPS will hire between 2,500 and 3,000 workers for its new logistics center. This week’s job fair is the latest in a series that UPS is using to hire capable Fulton County residents for the facility.

“UPS has been an integral part of the Atlanta landscape for nearly 5 decades now,” said Chris Franzoni, HR Director S.M.A.R.T. Regional, UPS. “The SMART Hub will require top talent in the right positions in order to run efficiently, and we know we can find that talent in Fulton’s workforce.”

“Fulton County’s storied partnership with UPS has changed the lives of many of our residents,” said Fulton County Board of Commissioners Chairman Rob Pitts. “It is our hope that together we can continue to affect positive change for each other for a long time to come.”

UPS has called Fulton County home since 1991, when the company moved its global headquarters to Sandy Springs. The final SMART Hub recruitment fair is planned for October 26 at Atlanta Technical College.Select Fulton is Fulton County’s Economic Development initiative, launched in 2016, bringing together the expertise of the Development Authority of Fulton County and a professional Economic Development team.
